Q: Is hair transplantation right for me?
A: This is what our complimentary consultation is designed for, to determine if you are a qualified candidate. Dr. Bilowus will personally analyze your hair loss and outline your treatment options.

Q: Is hair transplantation surgery painful?
A: The vast majority of our patients are very comfortable during and after their surgery. Appropriate local anesthetics are given before the procedure, and we supply pain medication for post-surgery. Many of our patients find that they do not need to take any medication beyond the first day or two after their procedure.

Q: How long does it take to recover?
A: The hair transplantation surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and most patients return to a normal lifestyle within days.

Q: What is the success rate of transplants?
A: Hair transplantation and graft survival, when performed by an experienced surgeon as Dr. Bilowus are virtually 100% successful.

Q: What is the difference between mini-grafts and micro-grafts?
A: A micro-graft uses the follicular units as they naturally occur in one, two, or three hairs. A mini-graft is a group of follicular units kept together.

Q: What is the cost of the procedure?
A: If you are a suitable candidate for hair restoration, most patients can expect to invest $2,000 to $6,000 for a procedure based on several factors, including: degree of hair loss, area of treatment, hair characteristics, and the extent of desired coverage. Many patients are pleased with the coverage and density obtained with just one treatment while others may opt for more than one session to further enhance their results. As a private practice, Bilowus Medical does not have the high overhead costs associated with national chains and multi-clinic offices. Our fees are affordable and extremely competitive, as we don’t incur the costs of national advertising, infomercials, or consultants. Low interest financing is also available.

Q: Should I give Rogaine and Propecia a try first?
A: According to the manufacturers of Propecia and Rogaine, their products are not effective in the frontal hairline area, which is the area of concern for most patients. Dr. Bilowus will discuss these medical treatment options with you during your consultation, and may recommend them to help retain hair that may be lost due to pattern baldness. You’ll also find more information on Propecia and Rogaine in the Treatment Options section of our website.
